Kuk Sool Won of West Oxfordshire Martial Arts Academy is licensed and registered by WKSA. Instructors are DBS checked.

Tests are held four times a year to allow students to demonstrate their potential for promotion at each level within Kuk Sool WonTM. At every testing students have to demonstrate their ability from the White Belt syllabus up to their current training level to enable them to advance to the next belt within the grading system. The syllabus starts at the Foundation Level and moves through Elemental Level, Intermediate Level, High Level and Advanced Level prior to promotion to the coveted Black Belt.

Foundation Syllabus - White Belt

Kuk Sool Won White Belt

As the student begins their training and is taught basic etiquette, “Ki” breathing exercises, falling principles, punching and kicking, hand release and takedown techniques and finally the first form Ki Cho Hyung.



Elemental Syllabus - Yellow Belt

Kuk Sool Won Yellow Belt

Improving on the White Belt syllabus and adding to falling principles, punching and kicking, release against wrist and clothing grab techniques and second form Cho Geup Hyung.



Intermediate Syllabus - Blue Belt

Improving on the Yellow Belt syllabus and adding to falling principles, punching and kicking, release against inside wrist grabs and vital point hand strikes and third form Joong Geup Hyung.



High Syllabus - Red Belt

Improving on the Blue Belt syllabus and adding to falling principles, punching and kicking, vital point kicking and defence against punch/kick attack, fourth form Goh Geup Hyung.



Advanced Part 1 Syllabus – Brown Belt

Improving on the Red Belt syllabus and adding to falling principles, punching and kicking, advanced release against wrist and clothing grab techniques, fifth form Dae Geup Hyung.



Advanced Part 2 Syllabus – Black/Brown Belt

Improving on the Brown Belt syllabus and adding to falling principles, punching and kicking, advanced release against rear wrist grab, Wrist locking, throwing techniques, choking techniques, defence against throwing techniques, release against two hand grabs, release against double hand grab and defence against knife attack, sixth form Guhm Moo Hyung.



Black Belt

During your development through the Advanced Part 2 Syllabus you will be invited to attend National Testings held by the World Kuk Sool Association and after successful completion will be awarded the coveted Black Belt by the Grandmaster.
